Truth.

Truth. I am not writer. And honestly, the blog section of this site has been the one thing holding me back from hitting that publish button in the top corner! I have never been a confident writer. I almost always mix up my words and I have put off every written assignment to the very last minute because

I simply struggle to convey my thoughts. But here I am. For some reason I am throwing myself outside my little comfort zone in the attempt to share an insight to what my life is like on my side of the lens, the creative chaos that happens behind the scenes.

And this first blog is just that, creative chaos. A bit of an introduction, a few random thoughts and a few of corny remarks mashed together.

My awkward way with words has been a drive behind my passion for photography. They say a picture can tell 1000 words, and as a photographer I have always tried to ensure that each image I capture says at least 950. *My first corny joke*. But it's somewhat true. Photography is about conveying an entire story within a single image and I think that's a beautiful thing. There are those who intentionally create that story telling photography, and there's those that snap away and hope they get something decent out of it.

Another truth. I am guilty for being both those people. When I got my first camera at 13 years old, a small bright blue point and shoot camera, I easily filled that memory card in an hour. I spent hours photographing the same purple flowers, Dad's collections of antique items and water droplets from a leaking tap. I also drove my sister crazy, making her sit and pose on an itchy hay bale while I snapped away. I must of broken a record. However, those memory cards contained 1000 of photographs but honestly told 10 words - 10 words because some photos made for great content when use them for my sister's 18th birthday.

Yes I was 13, and most girls went through that same stage. But, over the past 10+ years I learnt the importance of creating a photograph, not just capturing one. This is something that is a key part of what I do today.

This is what draws me to portraiture. There are endless words and special stories to be told through a photograph. There is so much emotion, so much love, so much laughter. I am grateful to be able to meet amazing people and learn about their unique stories through photography. I love learning about what makes them laugh, creating genuine smiles that go beyond saying 'cheese'.

And this all I aim to do. Continue to meet some wonderful people, learn about them and their stories as we work together to create a photograph that tells their own 1000 words. Truth.

So if I have managed to string some meaning together and you've read to the end, you have some insight into the quirky and awkwardness that is yet to come on this website. There is lots more to come, I promise.
